DISCOVER AMAZING THEATER AT THE CABRILLO PLAYHOUSE
From all of us at the
Cabrillo Playhouse, we wish all our audiences a very happy
and prosperous New Year!

New Year. Although 2012 has beginning, the playhouse season
is in full swing. After opening our season with
extraordinarily funny musical Nunsense, the Cabrillo
presented the thriller Wait Until Dark and we just concluded
our holiday presentation of Christmas in San Clemente. I
want to personally thank both Ron Lance and Daneen Pysz for
their fine work in producing and directing this wonderful
show which played to virtually sold out audiences for all
performances. A special thanks goes out to not only all the
actors, young and old, but to the moms and dads who made
sure their children showed up on time for the rehearsals and
all the performances.
As many of you may know, Austin Peay has returned to the
Cabrillo Playhouse to direct two of the four remaining
productions for the season. The board is very pleased to
have Mr. Peay back as he brings a proven track record of
directing successful shows not only at the Cabrillo, but at
several community theaters in Orange County. Austin clearly
raised the bar as to the quality of the productions when
previously at the Cabrillo and we expect nothing less in
2012 as he brings a wealth of knowledge and artistic insight
to our stage.
FFirst up is Run For Your Wife, the prequel to Caught in the
Net, the British farce also written by Ray Cooney that
Austin directed at the Cabrillo some four years ago. In
April, Austin will direct the Tony award winning musical,
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee so please make
plans to see this hilarious story about a fictional spelling
contest and its quirky participants. Tickets are now on sale
for both Spelling Bee and our next production, Proof, the
powerful drama about a daughter’s relationship with her
recently deceased father and her quest to prove his
mathematical genius. Tickets for all remaining shows can be
purchased online at www.cabrilloplayhouse.org or feel free
to contact the box office at 949 492-0465.

MISSION
STATEMENT
The Cabrillo Playhouse (established in 1966) came from
humbel beginnings as the San Clemente Community Theatre
originally established in 1953. Each year for over half a
century we have worked hard to continue our rich tradition
of being a significant cultural asset to South Orange County
by providing an outlet for creative community involvement as
we endeavor to enrich, educate, excite and entertain artists
and audiences through a variety of performing arts in an
intimate setting.
