Of Mice and Men, a John Steinbeck Drama (January 8-31, 2010)

Two drifters, George and Lennie, with delusions of living off the "fat of the land," have just arrived at a ranch to work for enough money to buy their own place. Lennie is a man-child, a little boy in the body of a dangerously powerful man. It's Lennie's obsessions with things soft and cuddly, that have made George cautious about who this gentle giant associates with. When a woman is found dead in the barn, it is obvious that Lennie--albeit accidentally--killed her. Realizing they can't run away, George is faced with a moral question: how should he deal with Lennie before the ranchers find him to take matters into their own hands. A tremendously moving study of the character of two roving farmhands.

Night Watch, a Lucille Fletcher Suspense (March 12-April 3, 2010)

Unable to sleep, Elaine Wheeler paces around her Manhattan townhouse, but as her husband tries to comfort her she screams because she sees (or believes she sees) the body of a dead man in the window across the way. After consulting a psychiatrist, Elaine commits herself to a sanitarium for treatment. But from there the plot moves quickly and grippingly as those involved; Elaine's old friend Blanche, the inquisitive and rather sinister man who lives next door and the nosy German maid all contribute to the deepening suspense as it draws towards its riveting climax.

"A most superior thriller...which from its first blood-curdling scream to its last charming surprise is a first class example of its genre" NY Times.

Rumors, a Neil Simon Farce (April 23-May 16, 2010)

Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.

"Not only side splitting, but front and back splitting." NBC TV.

A Look Back at our Successful 2008-2009 Season!

Vanities, a Jack Heifner Comedy (September 4-28, 2008)

A bittersweet comedy that chronicles the lives of three Texas girls.  In 1963, Joanne, Kathy & Mary are aggressively vivacious cheerleaders.  Five years later in their college sorority house they are confronting their futures with nervous jauntiness.  In 1974, they reunite briefly in New York.  Their lives have diverged their friendship, which once thrived on assumption, is strained and ambiguous. Their attempts at honest conversation only show they can no longer afford to have very much in common.

"Unnervingly funny....Fast moving, sneakily stinging dialogue." Newsweek.

The Spitfire Grill , A James Valcq Musical (October 23-November 16, 2008)

It is for sale but there are no takers, so newcomer Percy suggests to Hannah that she raffle it off.  Entry fees are $100 and the best essay on why you want the grill wins.  Soon mail is arriving by the wheelbarrow and things are definitely cookin' at the Spitfire Grill.

"An abundance of warmth, spirit and goodwill  Some of the most engaging and instantly infectious melodies I've heard in an original musical in some time." USA Today.

Crimes of the Heart , A Beth Henley Comedy/Drama (March 26-April 19, 2009)

The scene is Hazlehurst, Mississippi where the three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of the family patriarch, their grandfather, who is living out his last hours in the local hospital.  Lenny, the oldest, is unmarried at 30 and facing diminishing marital prospects; Meg, who quickly outgrew Hazlehurst is back after a failed singing career on the West Coast and Babe, the youngest, is out on bail after having shot her husband in the stomach. The play is the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize the future--but the telling is so true and touching and consistently hilarious that it will linger in the mind long after the curtain has descended.

"It has heart, wit and a surprisingly zany passion that must carry all before it" NY Post.

Happy Birthday , A Marc Camoletti Comedy (May 28-June 21, 2009)

Frantic complications in which identities, plots and counter plots and bedrooms are exchanged with ever increasing confusion transpire until an unexpected ending makes everyone happy including the maid who has acquired a mink coat and lots of money!  A long running success in London.
